5 Houston Loft Rentals You Need to See
Houston loft rentals are always a hot commodity in the local real estate market. As a licensed Realtor® specializing in Central Houston, I often help clients who are interested in urban loft living in the city. There’s something romantic about the idea of living and working in an industrial space with exposed brick and ducts, and huge windows!
Sometimes, there is some confusion from would-be renters about what is and isn’t considered a loft in Houston. Typically, lofts are converted warehouses that have an industrial feel to them. Lofts will have exposed brick and HVAC ducts, concrete or original hardwood floors, and large windows. Loft spaces most often have a completely open floor plan and frequently do not have a true bedroom. If a rental home doesn’t include these features, it probably isn’t a true loft!

There are a number of nice loft buildings in Houston, but I tend to recommend some more often than others. These lofts have all the advantages: Great location, affordable pricing, quality upkeep, and terrific amenities.
Here are the 5 Houston loft rentals you need to see!
1. Tennison Lofts
Tennison Lofts is a historic Houston loft apartment building that formerly housed a hotel built by the Tennison brothers in 1922. With exposed brick, beams, and stunning views of the Houston Theater District, this loft rental offers historic charm paired with urban sophistication and modern convenience.
2. Dakota Lofts
Talk about historic—the Dakota Lofts are the oldest loft apartments in the city of Houston! Not surprisingly, these lofts are located in the historic Warehouse District in East Downtown, inside what was once the Bute Paint Factory. Dakota Lofts offer classic loft living, with big, open floor plans and amazing historic beams.
3. Franklin Lofts
It doesn’t get much more centrally located than Franklin Lofts! Situated at the corner of Main Street and Franklin Street, Franklin Lofts is right in the heart of the city of Houston. It offers incredible urban walkability, with easy access on foot to the Light Rail, the Theater District, Minute Maid Park, Market Square Park, and the Buffalo Bayou Greenway. It’s an urban dream!
4. City View Lofts
City View Lofts has as much history as any property on this list. Built in 1910, it originally served as the Nabisco/Purse & Co.’s southwest regional office and bank facility. But the primary attraction of City View Lofts is its amenities. This EaDo landmark offers concierge service, a resident center, a party room, a wellness center, and easy access to the amazing nightlife in East Downtown.

It’s located right in the heart of Downtown, putting you within easy walking distance of the Central Business District, Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center, and all of the amazing bars and restaurants lining Main Street.
