Best Restaurants Of Houston Restaurant Weeks

Houston Restaurant Weeks is a month long event benefiting the Houston Food Bank. Restaurants all over the greater Houston area offer Prix Fixe menus for lunch,  dinner and brunch that are often slightly reduced for the consumer, and part of proceeds go to a great cause. Even if you aren’t looking for a deal, it’s a great way to explore many of the amazing restaurants in Houston. Here is a list of what I consider the best restaurants of Houston Restaurant Weeks. The event continues until September 3rd, and I would love to have lunch or dinner with any of my loyal readers. If you’re interested in checking out any of the below establishments, let me know.

Indika

Indika is a modern Indian fusion style restaurant located in Montrose. In my opinion, the best Houston Restaurants Week option at Indika is the brunch offered on the weekend. Their brunch is an all-you-can-eat style where the kitchen sends out small portions of 13 different items. If you really enjoyed something, or are just a glutton, you can request seconds or thirds of any dish. Honestly, you’ll be plenty full way before you get to the desserts, and all for $20 per person. Save room for dessert because the coconut and millet pancakes are to die for! Visit Indika at 516 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77006.

Brennan’s of Houston

Brennan’s of Houston has been through a lot, included a fire in 2008, and is supposedly haunted. The food is hauntingly good, that’s for sure. Brennan’s is a Cajun restaurant, but not of the traditional fried variety. This is a New Orleans’ style seafood restaurant, situated in midtown, and their dinner offering is the way to go. Start with the turtle soup if you dare, and finish off with the Banana’s Foster, prepared table-side. You can find Brennan’s of Houston at 3300 Smith Street, Houston, TX 77006

Cafe Rabelais

In a city filled with food, we have plenty of French cuisine to choose from, and Cafe Rabelais is my absolute favorite. Perhaps, this is because Nate brought me here on one of our first dates. Located in Rice Village, you will have to find a place to park, and probably wait for a table at this cozy restaurant. The wait is well worth it. While not on the menu, escargot is available, and oh so butter. During restaurant weeks, consider the dinner offering, and make sure to order the Coq Au Vin. For the love birds, this is the perfect date night restaurant. You can take your special someone for a night to remember at Cafe Rabelais located at 2442 Times Boulevard, Houston, TX 77005.

Maison Pucha

Another French restaurant, Maison Pucha is new to Houston. Located in the Heights, the restaurant is very sophisticated and posh. This is a place for celebrations and actually, Nate and I celebrated buying our first house here. Honestly, everything looks so good on the menu! I suggest trying dinner, lunch or brunch, because they all offer the most decadent soufflé that has ever graced my lips. Cocktails are unique and fun; so, don’t be afraid to imbibe. Look for Maison Pucha at 1001 Studewood Street, Houston, TX 77008.

The Pass

Honestly, it has been years since I have dined at The Pass, but it blew my mind completely. The menu at the pass is a tasting menu, and nothing looks at all like it is described, but the taste is incredible. Despite what your imagination might be expecting, the food delivers. The portions are small (because it is a tasting menu) but you will get full. Dinner here is typically $65 per person and reservations are hard to book. At $45 for dinner, this is an opportunity that you shouldn’t pass up. The Pass is located at 807 Taft Street, Houston, TX 77019.

Oporto Fooding House and Wine

There are two restaurants in the Oporto family, but Oporto Fooding House and Wine in Midtown is much larger, with a much more expansive menu. With a Portuguese influence, the food here is tapas style. Get together a group of friends, and make a night of bottles of wine and shared plates. Pass things around, and sample it all. Reservations here used to be impossible to secure; so, act quickly. Oporto Fooding House and Wine is located at 125 W Gray Street, Houston, TX 77019.

Don’t forget to invite me if you decide to head out to any of these amazing restaurants during Houston Restaurant Weeks!
