Community Spotlight-Downtown’s First High Rise
My grandfather and father are electricians and they worked on many of the big apartment complexes back in the day. My grandfather has retired, and my dad, well, he’s semi-retired. My parents entertained occasionally and people love to to talk about work. I remember the stories about the luxury high rise from the 60’s in the big city with its grandeur and high society residents. Yet, up until yesterday, I had never stepped foot in the 396 unit, 31 story apartment community. I had seen photos and sure, it seemed nice enough, but I never expected what I saw when I finally had my maiden tour. Upon entry, you’re overwhelmed by the massive lobby with white walls and towering ceilings that surround you, leaving you to be the tiniest thing in the room. And, then you notice the concierge who guides you to a modern seating area while you wait for service.
Once you make it upstairs to the residential spaces, each individual apartment home is crisp and clean with white cabinets and glass walls with a European flair. Each home features the original hard woods from 1966 throughout (even the bedroom; so, start shopping for area rugs) with floor to ceiling windows capturing downtown with stunning views, day and night. The community underwent a massive remodel from 2010-2012, floor by floor, and all homes have been improved with stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops. Washers and dryers are not included in unit due to when the community was originally built, but with dry cleaning and fluff and fold pick up, who needs to do laundry?! If you do prefer to do it yourself, there is an on-site laundry center on the amenity level.
In addition to concierge service, on site amenities include a board room, a community lounge for entertaining, a billiards room, a pool and sunning deck that overlooks downtown, a fitness center, and an indoor basketball court. There’s even an on-site deli and convenience store. You’re only 4 city blocks from Toyota Center, and it’s just a bit farther to Minute Maid Park. With METROrail access being only 1 block away, you can easily enjoy all that downtown has to offer, or head down to the Museum District or NRG Stadium and Park in the Medical Center. Your furry pals are welcome too!
