Houston Area Thanksgiving Events 2021
Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, gratitude, and great food. But if you’re looking for some activity this Thanksgiving season, Houston has plenty of that to go around. These upcoming Houston area Thanksgiving events are local favorites. Enjoy!
72nd Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade: If you live in Downtown Houston, you might hear some buzz going on from Smith to Lamar Street on Thanksgiving Day. That’s because from 9 AM to 11 AM, H-E-B will be orchestrating its 72nd Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. Each year, several hundred thousand Houstonians line the streets to watch elaborate floats, colorful marching bands, giant balloons, and other entries. This parade is one of the oldest in the country and is certainly worth seeing at least once!
Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty: After a busy Thanksgiving, you might want a more soothing activity. The Houston Symphony will be performing a family-friendly audience favorite on November 26th, 27th, and 28th. Enjoy the performance by Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma, who will deliver romantic and enchanting music from Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty ballet. View the show virtually, from socially distanced mezzanine seats, or from an available seat of your choosing. Purchase your tickets online.
Thanksgiving with the Fishes: If you don’t feel like cooking this year, the Downtown Aquarium has your back. Bring your family for a buffet feast featuring traditional favorites like pastas and tasty seafood selections. Dining with a view of the aquarium is a truly unforgettable experience; however, if you can’t make it on Thanksgiving morning, don’t fret. You can still enjoy a meal made by the Downtown Aquarium by purchasing a family pack that includes Thanksgiving staples like roast turkey with gravy, garlic redskin mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, pumpkin or apple pie, and more. Pre-order by November 22nd to take advantage of the family packs, or reserve a table in advance to dine in at the aquarium.
BakerRipley Houston Turkey Trot: Support the mission of BakerRipley by participating in this year’s Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. Runners can choose between a 10K, 5K, or a Kid’s Run (1K) and compete at whatever pace they are comfortable with. BakerRipley supports the community by providing resources, education, and connection to more than half a million individuals searching for work opportunities each year. Your participation in the Turkey Trot directly helps families in the Houston area grow and thrive!
