Located nearby River Oaks, Memorial Park, Afton Oaks, Uptown, Tanglewood, and West Oaks, the little neighborhood of Briar Hollow is known for its excellent proximity to the highway and one of the best greenspaces in Houston.

Accessibility: Walk Score® rates the area’s Walk Score at 74, so most errands here can be accomplished by foot. There is also quite a bit of infrastructure for cyclists! Although the community only has a Transit Score of 35, travelers can still count on some limited public transportation options.

Parks, Recreation, and Green Spaces: Memorial Park keeps all the locals entertained with its various activities, including golfing, hiking and biking, and visiting the Hogg Bird Sanctuary or the Houston Arboretum and Nature CenterBuffalo Bayou Park, another area favorite, is located under fifteen minutes away. Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park, River Oaks Park, and Grady Park are also good options for those who prefer smaller green spaces.

Commute: Commuters tend to enjoy this area because of its easy access to major highways. It is adjacent to Interstate 610 and north of Route 59 and Interstate 69, making commuting by car a cinch. However, since public transportation is somewhat limited in this community, buyers should weigh how important it is to reliably catch a bus before moving here.

History: During the 1920s, the River Oaks neighborhood to the east of Briar Hollow was touted as the most expensive neighborhood in Houston. Growth in the areas south of Memorial Park exploded after World War II and continues to develop. Today, homes in River Oaks and nearby neighborhoods remain sought-after. Several high-rise office and apartment buildings rose in Briar Hollow in the 1960s and 1970s to meet some of this demand.

Shopping: This community is located within minutes of some of Houston’s most popular shopping destinations, including the Galleria, River Oaks District, Highland Village, Uptown Park, Post Oak Plaza, and more.

Community: This area is located in one of the most active business and retail locations in Houston. Residents here are not only able to access great shopping but jobs, as well. Homes here are often found in gated communities or upscale complexes that offer amenities such as security, ample off-street parking, greenspaces, and other luxury features.

Culture: There is always something to do when you live in a neighborhood like this! Whether you choose to spend a day catching a few rays at Memorial Park or travel to one of the many shopping destinations located near the neighborhood, you won’t be disappointed by area activities.
