History: Memorial Park is one of the largest urban parks in Texas. The land where the park currently sits was formerly Camp Logan, a World War I-era military training base. Brothers Mike and Will Hogg bought a portion of the land in 1924 but never developed homes on it, so they sold their plots to the city of Houston. The area then became a park dedicated to the memories of World War I soldiers. Residents now live in homes built around the perimeter of the park.

Shopping: This neighborhood has amazing access to Downtown, the Galleria, River Oaks, and the Energy Corridor, making it a great place to live for those who like to shop. Although it may be hard to complete day-to-day errands here, this is a wonderful place to live if you are open to traveling a little outside the neighborhood.

Community: Prospective residents can choose from a variety of property types, including luxurious townhomes, mansions, and ranch-style homes. Homes in the immediate area of Memorial Park can be quite expensive, however. This is due in part to the neighborhood’s prime location relative to jobs, shopping, greenspaces, and entertainment. At this time, multi-level living is becoming more common as development in the area continues.

Culture: Memorial Park typically attracts people who enjoy spending time outdoors. It is not at all uncommon to see joggers, bikers, and dog-walkers enjoying a sunny day outside here. Depending on where you live outside of Memorial Park, there’s also plenty to do. The Rustic and Bloom & Bee are just a couple favorite local restaurants to check out. Since the neighborhood is also located nearby popular communities like Downtown and River Oaks, this is a great place to live if you enjoy going out for a day of shopping.
