History: E.H. Fleming developed this community as a dual residential and business neighborhood in 1922. The next year, the city of Houston incorporated it and deed restrictions were drafted, including those that prohibited apartments. The Southampton Civic Club enforces existing deed restrictions, preserves the community’s rich history, and actively improves the area for residents.

Shopping: For those who love to shop, Southampton Place is a pretty ideal neighborhood to call home. Just 5 – 10 minutes away, Rice Village offers 16 blocks of retail shops and restaurants. In addition, Highland Village, River Oaks Shopping Center, and the Museum District provide great shopping opportunities in the area.

Community: Known for luxury and bungalow homes, this single-family community is often considered to be one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Houston. Towering oak trees line the streets, and an active civic club helps to maintain the area’s beauty. Due to the neighborhood’s small size and low housing inventory, it can be a feat to find the right home. It’s important to work with a Realtor® who can move fast and is familiar with the area’s deed restrictions.

Culture: This vibrant community offers residents the perks of a residential neighborhood without sacrificing the benefits of city living. From outdoor activities at Hermann Park to museum-hopping in the Museum District, there is always something to do. Shoppers love that they’re not limited to just one or two close shopping centers, and proximity to job hubs like Downtown allow many commuters to enhance their work-life balance. With an abundance of restaurants to the west, foodies also enjoy living here.
