Named for its proximity to Rice University’s south gate, this community features a variety of classic and new construction homes. It is prized for its small-town atmosphere and short distance to job hubs, parks, and entertainment.

Parks, Recreation, and Green spaces: Few neighborhoods have better access to parks and recreation. To the east, Hermann Park attracts millions of visitors every year. Among its many recreational opportunities are its hike and bike trails, the Houston Zoo, Hermann Park Golf Course, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and Brays Bayou Park. Smaller green spaces in the area include Texas A & M University Park and Brays Bayou Greenway Trail to the south, Whitt Johnson Park to the west, Wier Park to the northwest, and Fleming Park and Reckling Park to the north. Rice University’s campus to the north also features several fields for use.

Commute: This area is beloved for its easy commutes to nearby employment hubs like Texas Medical Center. Residents can easily access Route 59 and Interstate 69 to the north as well as Route 90 Alternate to the south. The neighborhood also provides accessibility to West Holcombe Boulevard, Kirby Drive, Main Street, and other main roads. For commuters who’d prefer to take public transportation, this community offers several options, including rail and bus lines.
