Located just south of the North Loop, this area is one of Houston’s most popular neighborhoods. It’s one of the city’s most accessible communities, and residents enjoy excellent entertainment, dining, and proximity to Downtown, Memorial, and Texas Medical Center.

Situated nearby job hubs like Texas Medical Center and Downtown, living in this location makes it easy to commute to work.

History: Sunset Heights Realty Co. developed the community in 1910. At one point, Houston Heights even tried to annex the neighborhood! The city of Houston officially annexed it in 1927. Since the early 2000s, efforts have been underway to renovate local homes.

Shopping: Nearby Houston Heights provides great opportunities to shop on historic 19th Street. Shoppers can also easily travel to other destinations like Downtown to satisfy the urge to shop. Most basic errands can be completed by foot in the Greater Heights area.

Community: Bungalows rule this small neighborhood, and many have been lovingly restored over the years. Beloved for its tree-lined streets and cozy atmosphere, this neighborhood enables residents to have the best of both city and small-town life due to its central location. A civic group, the Sunset Heights Civic Club, enforces the neighborhood’s deed restrictions, organizes events, and supports improvements to the area.

Culture: Some of the best restaurants in the city are located in the Greater Heights, and entertainment is never too far away.
