The Best Places to get Crawfish in Houston Right Now

Crawfish season started early this year, and there is no better place to enjoy some good crawfish than in Houston. We’re about as close to Louisiana as a big city can get, and we have plenty of fresh mudbugs to go around. As a huge fan myself, I know a thing or two about the best restaurants to visit. Here are some of the best places to get crawfish in Houston right now. Enjoy!

Boil House
Located at 606 E. 11^th Street, Boil House specializes in fresh crawfish with authentic Louisiana flavor. Seriously – my mouth is watering just thinking about their menu. Their slogan is from “The Pond to Your Plate” and they mean it! Yelpers have rated Boil House at 4.5 stars and there’s no question why. You know a restaurant is worth checking out when they specialize in one type of food and absolutely crush it. Their desserts are pretty tasty, and brought in from a bakery in New Orleans, Louisiana. Boil House is only open during crawfish season and they close daily as soon as they run out. Hurry up or you’ll miss out on some of the best crawfish you’ve ever had.

Bayou City Seafood
If you’re looking for a huge variety of seafood on the menu, Bayou City Seafood on Richmond Avenue is a must-try. They’re also known for fabulous pasta dishes! You can even get frog legs here if you’re feeling adventurous. You wouldn’t expect to find people suckin’ heads on mudbugs at this fancy table cloth restaurant, but this is one of my favorite spots for crawfish. They’re always a great size, the flavor and spice is consistent, and the price is reasonable.

The Barking Pig
The Barking Pig is family-owned and operated, dog and kid-friendly, and offers a seasonal menu so that you always eat fresh and never get bored of the same ‘ol meals. I recommend trying the fried pickles. You won’t be disappointed! The Barking Pig is located on Ella Boulevard, and their crawfish is always the best price in town. Be warned though, the crawfish at The Barking Pig are hot! They’re packing some heat that isn’t quite the same as other joints in town, but you can always wash it down with a frozen screwdriver.

BB’s Tex Orleans
Crawfish is can consistently be found at BB’s throughout the season, and they’re always packing great flavor. If you see me there, you might need to pry me out of my seat to prevent BB’s from running out! They have many locations and offer take-out, so you should be able to enjoy fresh crawfish without running into issues. BB’s also caters – worth keeping in mind if you are planning a wedding or corporate event.

Ragin’ Cajun
This Italian owned cajun joint does not disappoint, ever! All of their food is delicious and their daily specials are options really worth considering. The casual atmosphere makes it great for families and kiddos. Try one of their amazing seafood po-boys if you get the chance – I guarantee you will have trouble deciding which variety to try!
