Where to Find the Best Ice Cream in Houston (Take Out & Delivery)
At this point, there’s no doubt the spring warm-up is on its way. Thanks to pandemic COVID-19, most of us are practicing social-distancing and the city has restricted dining-in at restaurants. It’s ok though because the spots on this list are offering take-out, delivery, or both! I’ve got just the spots for you to find the best ice cream in Houston that will keep you cool, smiling, and slightly distracted from all that is going on in the world!
SMOOSH Cookies
If you’re an ice cream sandwich fan like me (and who isn’t?), you will fall in love with SMOOSH. Customers can custom-make their sandwiches by choosing their cookies, ice cream flavor, and even toppings. Its wide variety of cookies are fresh-baked to perfection! You could easily visit SMOOSH and never have the same ice cream sandwich twice. While the shop has all the classic ice cream flavors, you can easily jazz things up with flavors like Magical Unicorn or Cookie Monster. Smoosh is located on W. 18th Street in Houston Heights.
The Chocolate Bar
The Chocolate Bar is a well-known Houston favorite and a one-stop-shop for all your chocolate needs. That being said, its chocolate ice cream is incredible. If chocolate isn’t quite your thing, Chocolate Bar offers many other different flavors, each with its own special flair. Honestly, they might offer the best ice cream in Houston. A trip to Chocolate Bar would be remiss without bringing some fudge or Texas Brittle home for later! You can find The Chocolate Bar in Rice Village and on West Alabama Street in Montrose.
Bubble Egg
Bubble Egg introduced Houston to Hong Kong egg waffles in December of 2017, and I am so glad it did! Located on Bellaire Boulevard and on W. 34th Street, Bubble Egg offers a variety of meals, drinks, and ice creams. The presentation is not lacking here, and its ice creams are as delicious as they are beautifully decorated. Bubble Egg is an awesome shop to visit if you want to indulge your sweet tooth but want something a little bit different than usual.
Honeychild’s Sweet Cream
Though not exactly ice cream, Honeychild’s Sweet Cream serves one-of-a-kind handmade frozen custards that receive rave reviews. It takes pride in using fresh, local ingredients with names you can actually pronounce, so you can feel even better about grabbing a sweet treat. Where else are you going to find a sweet potato frozen custard? With no storefront, you can find Honeychild’s at specialty grocers like Phoenicia and local coffee shops.
